Teaching English in LA & China
by Adrian - HCE Teacher
My experience is kind of a different one from most of the other participants. The host father for my family lives and works in Shenzhen, but his wife and 2 children live in LA. I lived with the wife and kids in LA for 2 months and played with them in English and helped them with homework. It can be hard to adjust to an American educational system for kids that grew up in China, but they’re great kids and I loved helping them with projects.
I studied business and I hope to start a company someday. This is a way for me to get used to the culture in China so my business can have an international scope.

My experience here has been pretty incredible. My host father is a very successful businessman and lives in a really nice house. He works non-stop so we don’t always practice English as much as we should, but he treats me like family and he’s taught me a lot about business culture in China.
